Whine Column

For a new Whine column, tell us about customers you’d like to put in the grape squash pit. Then share how you artfully changed that customer relationship into a “resolved” situation that saved your reputation. Let's toast to you! Dealing with the public is not so different from the art and science of what goes on in the shop and how you do your job.
Today, I am whining about the post office. I send out the newsletter across the country to 600+ readers who like a hard copy versus email versions. I send out CDs of Back Issues and DVDs of trade show classes on sharpening knives or shears or clipper blade repair; and still things get lost in the mail, even with tracking numbers. I don't write down client names on my post office receipts, so I have dozens of receipts in a file proving mail date, but that does not appease a client when he or she doesn't have what they ordered. The post office clerks shrug. I whine, and send off double shipments; and customers keep renewing subscriptions, so they do appreciate the customer service and common "whine" sessions. Now where is my glass to toast to priority tracking?
